Nestled among the company's original 24 hectares of prime vineyard in Jackson Road are the winery and sales centre. Since 1990, the Estate has undergone many changes to obtain the best possible sources of grapes and to build facilities that make use of the very best opportunities of Marlborough's ideal year-round conditions. Vineyards acquired over the past 12 years have increased the Estate holdings to 58 hectares. Quality and absolute dedication to achieving the best is the key to Allan Scott Wines. Allan Scott Coming from a Canterbury farming family, Allan's first contact with the wine industry came in 1973 as an employee of Montana Wines, assisting with the original vine plantings in Marlborough. After several years as a vineyard manager for Montana, he resigned to head a national viticultural team for Corbans Wines. In this role, Allan developed an interest in the winemaking process as well. This interest eventually led to the establishment of Allan Scott Wines and Estate Ltd. In its first year, the winery had a limited release of 2000 cases of classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Allan Scott Wines has continued to strengthen its position within the domestic market with the help of national distributor Eurowine Fine Wines. Export sales also continue to grow steadily, with no less than 30 percent of the finished product heading overseas to the United States, Britain, Australia, and Japan from the 2002 vintage, when over 60,000 cases of wine were produced at the winery.
Marlborough, located at the top of New Zealand’s South Island, is the largest winemaking region. In little more than 20 years, Marlborough has become the country’s most recognized wine-growing area.
