Matilda Plains winery and wines were named after the Willson family border collie dog, Matilda. The dog had the canny
knack of knowing when the sugar level was rising in the grapes and on her morning walks would sample the fruit.
When she stopped spitting out the grapes, the vineyard staff knew it was time to start collecting samples.
The high tech winery (complete with temperature controlled barrel shed) was completed in 2002, on the plains
between Langhorne Creek and the shores of Australia’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Alexandrina. This pair of wines is
made from the Willson family vineyards at Langhorne Creek where attention to detail and quality parameters is high.
The excellent balance between fruit flavours, tannin and acid with a delightful rounded finish make these an exciting
pair of wines.
