Passionate about New World Wines

iwc wine agent of the year 2009

2005 Peter Barlow

Tasting Note:

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from our finest vineyard. Upfront perfume, intermingled with concentrated cassis, black cherries & some herbaceousness.

Independents Note:

The fruit mix on the nose has an intriguing complexity, lots of blackcurrants and black plum with behind red fruits backed by herbal green peppers. The tannins give structure but their ripeness ensures that the palate is supple and fleshy, a richness that is so well balanced by the mid red fruit freshness, brightness and elegance are there towards the finish. Derek Smedley MW 95 points

Grapes:

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

When to drink:

This multi-layered wine is currently accessible, but will repay further cellaring - 10 to 15 years

Traditional vinification was employed with ± 9 open pump-overs & the wine was racked & returned twice. This was followed by an extended, 2 weeks maceration. Natural, primary fermentation was followed by Malolactic fermentation in barrel. Due to minimal filtration, this wine may throw a slight deposit in the bottle.
