Vintage conditions

The region enjoyed a typical start to a warm and dry growing season with little rainfall
in November and December, and average spring temperatures evolving into a near perfect summer growing cycle. The slightly lower yields have resulted in exceptional fruit ripeness and show an exquisite concentration of aromas and flavours. The overall season offered superb conditions for a range of varieties throughout the vineyards. Across the board, quality was outstanding

Vintage conditions

Vintage conditions leading up to and during the 2019 vintage were warm and dry resulting in restricted crop levels, however well-managed irrigation ensured the vines did not suffer during these periods and quality was maintained. As the cooler weather arrived, ripening returned quickly, placing pressure on the winery to cope with successive days of high crush volumes.

Vinification details

Once harvested the fruit was crushed and pressed, and the juice cold settled and racked to ferment. The ferment was carried out with selected yeast with a portion fermented in 500L French oak puncheons. After some ageing the wine was blended, stabilised, clarified and bottled.

Vintage conditions

Warm, dry weather during the 2018 harvest restricted crop levels and helped to produce exceptional fruit quality with plenty of aromatics and flavour. Lower rain levels during the growing season translated into smaller berries, making Trentham’s winemakers very happy!

Vintage conditions

‘Late but great’ sums up the 2017 vintage. Good rain in spring, followed by mild weather and only short heatwaves resulted in grapes ripening slowly on the vine and an unusually late harvest.

Vinification details

Once harvested, the fruit was crushed and pressed, and the juice cold settled and racked to ferment. The ferment was carried out with selected yeast with a portion fermented in 500L French oak puncheons. After some ageing the wine was blended, stabilised, clarified and bottled.
