Tasting note
A lively and expressive Shiraz, the 2018 Carnival of Love begins with raspberry and cassis leading the aromatics, with soft hints of butterscotch. The red fruits are rich with layers of toffee and coconut weaving through the darker plummy fruit that fills the palate. Mocha and spice add further dimension.
Vintage conditions
Starting early March, the 2018 vintage can be defined by the even ripening that lead to great fermentation conditions. The grapes entered the winery at a steady pace with excellent colour and breadth of flavour shown as soon as the fruit was first crushed.

Tasting note
Lifted aromas of dark berries and smoky oak leap boldly from the glass. With a satin-like palate, cherry and satsuma plum flavours develop into decadent dark chocolate and liquorice. Complex flavours, depth and polished tannins; a powerful and expressive wine.
Vintage conditions
Heavy rain in the McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek regions during July, lead to a 31% increase in rainfall. These cold, wet conditions continued through to early summer, becoming the defining features of the 2017 vintage. Budburst and flowering were both delayed, resulting in a later harvest than normal. In the lead up to harvest there were concerns of mildew and botrytis affecting the grape quality, however Mollydooker’s open canopies allowed air flow and, with perfect summer temperatures, their grapes were not affected.

Tasting note
Fresh aromas of raspberry and plum, with hints of earthiness, create the intense nose, while the palate provides a full spectrum of flavours from cherry to mocha and spice. Exhibiting poise and balance, the lovely hints of oak reside as an undercurrent of fine tannins and subtle vanilla.
Vintage conditions
2016 was Mollydooker’s biggest vintage to date, with a total 1437 tons of grapes crushed and into barrel. Budburst was a week later than usual, but veraison and harvesting were generally right on cue, despite several heat spikes (up to 42°C) early in the season.
