Tasting note
This wine is dominated with cherry and red fruit aromas, backed up with inky and vanilla notes. Spice and richness create tension on the palate leaving an earthy and elegant finish
Vinification details
From one block of old bush vines on the estate, these grapes are hand harvested and whole berry fermented with a cultured biodynamic yeast. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks until dry, and aged for 20 months in 80% new oak.

Firm & structured, rich, inky and made to last, with 92% new wood, liquorice, wild herb and blackberry fruit and a smoky finish.
Vinification details
Matured in French 300l oak barrels for 20 months, 80% new, 15% second fill, 5% older. Individual wines personally selected by the winemaker and then blended together.

Tasting note
As South Africa’s only truly original grape, Kaapzicht are determined to flaunt Pinotage's finesse to the world. Fifteen years' maturation should greatly reward with complexity and elegance. The estate tell us this would be delicious matched with grilled meat off the 'braai'.
Vinification details
The grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and pumped over 3-4 times a day. After a light pressing the Pinotage underwent malolactic fermentation before going into 100% new French oak barrels for 24 months.
