The new Bottelary Hills blend is an amalgamation of 'Kaapzicht Estate wine' and 'Bin 3'. In the 1600's the hills were used as an outpost on the two day trek from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and named “Bottelary” after a ship’s pantry.
Tasting note
A rich and inviting blend of Merlot 37%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%, Shiraz 17% , Cabernet Franc 13%, Malbec 6% and Petit Verdot 1%. This inky, deep purple-coloured blend offers youthful, incensed aromas of sweet perfume, wild dark berries, sweet spice and musk. The palate is lush, supple and juicy, showing bold sweet fruit, kirsch and sour cherry, nicely framed by freshness, oak integration and soft tannins.

Vinification details
Grapes were destalked and fermented in stainless steel red wine tanks. Two pump overs per day ensured gentle extraction of tannin and flavour. After malolactic fermentation the wine was matured in French oak for 18 months.
